Anyone looking at QNX on a Dell Axim ?

That’s a pretty attractive price point they have there…

iPaq was just a little too expensive for a “toy”

Hey. I’ll take the price reduction however I can get it.
I guess my “hat’s off” goes to Dells marketing (for forcing
Compaq to bring down their price) rather than Intels
engineers though, if the performance isn’t as good as the
strongarm 206.

Here’s a review:

Nice toy. Xscale processor too so it’s not completely inconcievable that we
could run on it given a few device drivers. At $250US, I’m betting they’ll
sell like hotcakes.

cheers,

Docs docs docs! Since there is no standard for how to wire-up and layout
the hardware outside of the XScale CPU itself, without detailed system docs
it is pretty much impossible to get anything to work. People are already
trying to get info from Dell and Viewsonic (with litte luck so far). I
am watching. Also, I suspect that both of these units will suffer from the
cache bugs present in the PXA250 which prevent them from being good
performers compared to the older SA11x0 CPUs.

That being said, there is also a new iPaq at the $300 price point being
released (H1910) and the 38xx series ipaqs are only $360 now (online,
searched from www.mysimon.com).
