The shippped termcap/terminfo entry for xterm doesn’t work
correctly. If you try to vi a file in xterm and insert some
texts, you will notice the screen is not being refreshed
unless you hit Ctrl-L to force.
If you get the the xfree86 source from
ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.3.0/source
you will be able to find the new
xc/programs/xterm/terminfo
xc/programs/xterm/termcap
I tried those on my PC and they did solve the vi/refresh issue.
BTW, those two files in the xfree86 source aren’t really new:
-rw-r–r-- 1 fliu sysadmin 8193 Jan 17 2001 termcap
-rw-r–r-- 1 fliu sysadmin 22067 Aug 24 2002 terminfo
I guess the ones QNX6 shipped is even older
Please copy my email when a PR is opened. Thanks!

that’s probably too intrusive.
