I’m not able to find many syslog entries in the log file prior to a power
cycle on my development system. There may be a couple lines from events
prior to the reset, but not nearly as many as there should be. It seems like
syslogd is holding a lot of these messages in a buffer, or possibly not
saving the file after appending the log messages.
Are there any known bugs related to syslogd retaining messages after power
resets or system reboots, for that matter?
I have set chkfsys to fix errors automatically. This could be truncating the
file.
How can I make sure logged messages are saved to a file so that I can view
them after a power cycle?
Thanks,
