MPEG Trying to evaluate QNX RTP - MPEG not working

Hello,

I am trying to evaluate QNX RTP for use in a set top box.

OUr set top box hardware includes the Sigma Designs EM8400 MPEG2 decoder.
This is the chip used on the Netstream 2000 card. I was very excited to see
that the QNX Media Player preferences included an option to “Use Netstream
2000 where possible”. When I try to play an MPEG2 file with this option
turned on I get an error saying something like “cannot find
mpegsystem_sd.so”. I assume this means that a plugin is required to enable
Sigma Designs MPEG decoder playback.

Where can I get this from? Without the ability to playback using the Sigma
Designs chip then QNX is no use to me and we will have to write this
platform off as a possible client platform for our set top box.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

The textbook answer for this is “call your sales rep”. If you’re talking
about an actual business case, you’d be surprized how helpful they can get.
It is equally surprizing how many people ignore that obvious venue during
evaluations

Give it a try.

The issue seems to obscure for partners to solve.

You don’t say where you are located. If in USA the QSSL has direct representation.
