totally dismayed by qnx support..

I’ve been having trouble embedding neutrino on a compact flash card
for 2 weeks now… my app is done the hardware is done and the deadline
is rolling up on me like a runaway freight train…
I posted numerous messages on the qnx newsgroups and had many helpful
people suggest a fix for my problem , all of which failed .
In desperation I paid $200.00 for ESupport in the hopes that I could
receive a quick response and get this project back on track.
It has now been 3 business days (not to mention the additional days
wasted by the weekend) and I still haven’t even received an
acknowledgement that support was working on my problem, let alone had
a solution…

I switched my project from using Linux to QNX because of the very nice
development studio (phab) and the small memory impact. However I could
have written my app without the benefit of a nice R.A.D suite under
Linux and still had time to spare.
If QNX is serious about selling their development system for
$4000.00 and still competing with Linux they only way they will
succeed is through nothing less that EXCELENT customer support.
I’m stuck with QNX on this project as there is really no time to go
rewrite my app for Linux, However this will be a serious worry for me
on any future projects and may well dissuade me from using QNX on any
future projects.
I’m not intending knock Neutrino/Photon, it is still and excellent
o/s and PHAB is Wonderful. However if QNX wants to compete with the
plethora of embedded O/S’s Linux included and still sell their
development system at the price it is they really have to get their
“you know what” together on the support/documentation side.

Yes, we did receive your E-Support request, however our attempts to respond
were bounced back.
Is this your correct email? vgeisler@engineer.com

that address is correct … i have no idea why your email would be
bounced… i see the problem was technical problems with my mail
server. however for what is being charged for tech support i think
after the email was bounced a phone call would have been in order.
When somone shells out the money for support, I would venture to think
that it is because they are under a time constraint and probbly in
deep trouble and could use some reassurance that the problem is being
worked on.
