But why on earth, does it add some strange lines at the end of any makefile
I edit and save?
I’m sure I have a wrong configuration but which?

It’s the control information used for color and font stuff.
If you turn the option off, you will loose the changes to color and fonts in
your document.

A problem that can occur is that you have two ped’s open, you change the
config in one (e.g. turn of the styled text saving), then close it (config
gets saved), the close the second one (old config gets saved!), and the
changes in the config are lost.
So be careful if you wanna have permanent changes, close the ped window
where you did the settings changes as the last one.

it needs to be able to load a file passed as command line
parameter also. And it doesn’t seem to understand
the TAB character or key.

I don’t know what version of ped you have, but as far as I can remember,
those two features have always been in there.Markus
I don’t know what version either as there is no version number.
But, OK, it can load an existing file. Howerver, it will not
create a new file and assign it the name I pass as cmd line.
And the tabstops can’t be right. A tabstop of 4 will only move
the curson one character, in monospace or fixed fonts.
