any PDAs/handhelds with QNX in the works?

Well, just like the subject line says, are there any PDAs or
handhelds running QNX as an OS in the works? With the Agenda out
running Linux, it’d really be nice to see something out running QNX.
I want to think QNX is the perfect OS for these devices, but there
doesn’t seem to be anything in the works that I’ve heard of
(except some wild unsubstantiated rumors that Palm OS 5.0 might
be built on top of it, which I wouldn’t mind if they were true).

QNX has demoed hacked Compaq iPaq handhelds running QNX6 according to the
article at: http://www.phinixi.com/news/esc_report.php. I sure wouldn’t mind
seeing Palm 5.0 running on top of QNX6 either.

I agree. QSSL should provide a standard hack package for installing
QNX6 on a variety of the “Pocket Windows” based PDA’s (unless QSSL has a
big deal in the works, I think that the PDA boat has been missed, so the
best strategy is to be a market spoiler - i.e. take the profit out of it
for everyone else by releasing a “free for personal use” version of QNX6
for PDA’s). The theory being that thousands of developers will create
apps for the platform, and a significant portion of PDA buyers will
install QNX6 due to it’s signficantly better performance. This builds
mindshare, and positions QSSL as the #1 commercial applications vendor
in the market (since they have intimate knowedlge of, and control of the
OS).

The new zaurus looks interesting…with strong arm processor and
all…wonder if that can be hacked to run qnx? it runs embedded version of
linux as is…

here are detail i know posted by “take1” at pdabuzz.com

  1. The Zaurus will be using a 206 MHz StrongARM Processor.

  2. It will run Java on the Embedix OS (Linux) by Lineo.

  3. Amiga will write games for the platform.

  4. Office Noa will write video and multimedia software for use with wireless
    access.

  5. Pumatech will write the sync. software for the device.

  6. Access will provide it’s NetFront web browser for the Zaurus.

  7. Looks like it’s going to have a removable Lithium Ion battery like Casio
(see flash presentation at link below).

  8. There is a development assistance website at:

http://developer.sharpsec.com/

(Excellent Flash presentation of the Sharp PDA is shown at above link!)

PCWORLD.COM is the source.

Hi all,

I’ve found this document on ATI web site:

http://www.ati.com/na/pages/resource_centre/dev_rel/osdriver_chart.pdf

It appears that there are some plans to write accelerated driver for
Radeon
cards. Could someone from QSSL confirm or deny this?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, pretty G4, now Radeon support; am I noticing a pattern here ?
