I agree. QSSL should provide a standard hack package for installing
QNX6 on a variety of the “Pocket Windows” based PDA’s (unless QSSL has a
big deal in the works, I think that the PDA boat has been missed, so the
best strategy is to be a market spoiler - i.e. take the profit out of it
for everyone else by releasing a “free for personal use” version of QNX6
for PDA’s). The theory being that thousands of developers will create
apps for the platform, and a significant portion of PDA buyers will
install QNX6 due to it’s signficantly better performance. This builds
mindshare, and positions QSSL as the #1 commercial applications vendor
in the market (since they have intimate knowedlge of, and control of the
OS).

Well, just like the subject line says, are there any PDAs or
handhelds running QNX as an OS in the works? [ … ]
QNX has demoed hacked Compaq iPaq handhelds running QNX6 according to
the
article at: > http://www.phinixi.com/news/esc_report.php> . I sure
wouldn’t mind
seeing Palm 5.0 running on top of QNX6 either.
So was this just a demo, or is it going to come to some kind of
reality? I really think QNX is starting to miss the boat because
they don’t have anything available. Even if it’s something that’s
more for developers/hackers like the Agenda is. Something as an
incentive to drive 3rd party development of PDA applications like
Palm has been so successful with.
