Books

I have been looking for books on QNX so I can learn from this system. It has
become mission impossible for me. I never saw one in France, in the US and
even in Canada… I am sure I have not been lucky, and most likely I was not
at the right place, but still… It seems that those technical writers are
not very inspired by the system yet. May be QNX has published some books…
Could you help me out? thanks - Serge

Aside from the online documentation, check out www.parse.com.
Rob Krten has a book on Neutrino 2, which was the core of what
later became known as QNX 6.0. I’ve heard rumblings that RK will
be doing a newer edition, but you’d have to ask him directly for
confirmation. Anyway, it’s a useful start, and the only
3rd-party printed material for QNX 6 that I know of. There are
other resources for QNX 4, but that’s a different matter
entirely.

Hope this helps.

Gee, I went to Amazon.com did a search for QNX and got 3 hits, took
less than 1 minute

Went to bn.com (Barnes & Noble) and got 2 hits, less than 1 minute.

I am sure both Amazon and Barnes & Noble are international…
I’d try again if I were you. BTW: I have one of Krtens’ books and
they are excellent…

The rumblings are true! I’m just waiting for one more data point
from a reviewer, and I’ll be going through the final proofs this
weekend, and reprinting the book (with corrections) next week. Currently,
I’m out of stock (sold 'em all!) but that should be fixed in
about 3 weeks.

Meanwhile, the website has a table of contents, a sample chapter (there are
also sample chapters shipped with the QNX 6.1.0 CD ROM) and a download
area where you can get the book’s samples from.

Cheers,
-RK
