.miscellaneous news groups...

Hi…

I wonder if there could/should be a qdn.public.qnxrtp.miscelaneous news
groups??

Some times I have seen and I have had some questions, trivial at times,
not as important, and that may apply to .os .applications .devtools all
at once, but may not necessarily be .installation, .newuser or
…advocacy?

For example, if I want to ask “how do you implement pci_attach_device()
in Linux…” This would be a miscellaneous questions for QNX-aware
folks, but it would be an off topic question in any of the existing rtp
or linux news groups.

Also, if someone hits the .miscellaneous news group, they know that they
will get rtp related questions that may not necessarily be a rtp proper
question…

Regards…

Miguel.

my opinions are mine, only mine, solely mine, and they are not related
in any possible way to the institution(s) in which I study and work.

Speaking of this (pci_attach_device and Linux) I am trying to port some
drivers at this time, and it is my understanding that
pci_attach_device() in QNX6, incorporates the request_region() semantics
from Linux (i.e. when you do a pci_attach_device(), if successful, you
have essentially accomplished a request_region() as well). Can anyone
confirm this ?

I like the QNX semantics better, but it does make porting drivers more
difficult.

I think the comp.sys.amiga.* newsgroup have a good hierarchy.

It has comp.sys.amiga.programmer for programmers helping each other out,
something
that I really miss in the QNX newsgroup hierarchy.
