Hi,

I received this morning the last QNX newsletter and was particularly
chocked to see a german article about something that could interest
everybody.
Is it still necessary to insist on the fact that German is NOT an
international language !?!?!?!
All around the world everybody makes effort to write, maybe not allways
in ‘English’ but in an ‘As Far As Possible Understandable International
Language’.
Germans are the only ones to make differently!
Look at the ‘.de’ web sites to see that it’s often impossible to get it
in English. But as far as it concerns THEIR web sites with THEIR
interesting informations, it doesn’t matter, maybe they are talking
about something that anybody else in the world could understand.
BUT, when it’s about something published on an INTERNATIONAL site, the
least courtesy is to write it in order that everybody can understand.

I’d HOPE that QNX System Software Limited heightens QNX gmbh’s awareness
of the fact they are the only ones to speak German and that they have to
speak in such way as to be understood!

the German QNX page as well as the Japanese QNX page are mainly
translations of the Canadian QSSL page.

What’s the problem for you when QSSL makes a link for German speaking
guys when Matthias Stumpf has published his GERMAN presentation for a
German Congress on the German page of QNX Software Systems GmbH ??
There are more German speaking guys round the globe than you can
imagine… and the target market of QSSG speaks German!

Alain, if you are working international you will see that German
companies have all important business information also in English.
Just try to communicate in English with big companies in France or
ask for their general conditions in English… no chance… !

    are often familiar with English, French and some other languages :wink:

Taïwan, Japan, China. The German spoken guys I met were Germans!

technical language and not only a diplomatic language.

that you didn’t translate your publication to respect this philosophy.

Your paper seems to be interesting, but I never took german. I wonder
if, well…, someone could translate the paper after it is published?! I
would like to see what Jutta has to say -for all the obvious reasons!!

We have to talk with French customers mostly in French, little English
or German and sometimes with our ‘hands and feets’ :slight_smile:

BTW … France is the only country which doesn’t allow the usage of
english technical terms for their computer science literature … these
terms has to be translated into French.

Why should we translate a German publication when we have 2 similar
papers in English. The first “PVM publication” was presented at the SCI
2001 Conference in Orlando,FL in July (it has been selected as the best
paper presented in the session: Distributed Programming in Control
Systems :wink:
That publication is available in the conference proceedings.
2nd presentation was in Helsinki (Finland), a powerful joint session
with 2 other brilliant papers from a Russian and Indian speaker.

Ok, it was not a QDN publication, maybe I’m wrong to wait for an English
article here as far as it’s a link to your web site but try to propose to the
community something that everybody can understand!

Just to avoid misunderstandings: when I say it will be published so I
didn’t say that it will be published on our homepage! Also I didn’t make
any link to our homepage, what’s your problem?

BTW, if you had checked our hompage (short URL is www.dachs.info)
so you would know that it’s an ‘English homepage’, but no German guy

Certainly, but in mine -it’s not always easy-, we do our best to be able to
communicate in English.

English is standard for international business today. For local business
is often expected the local language.
BTW, QSSG is a QNX sub for all German speaking countries, so German is
just the right language for them…

On the homepage of our Russian distributor you don’t find any German or
English translation of our products… and you wouldn’t even be able to
read kyrillic letters :wink: But nobody cares about that you can’t read
it.

online…

There are also other intersting languages like Japanese, Russian or
recently I learned anyone who talks African. Learning languages is
not just a language, it’s also learning a culture…

Ok, Jutta, I won’t say that nobody speak German around the World or that no German
speak English, but as I consider that French is not the ‘common’ international
language, German is not either. We are not going to debatte on how many people
speak German or how many countries speak german. It’s too late for you as it’s too
late for us as it’s too late for Spanish, etc… You have to accept this fact. Even
if I like to speak French with somebody else (even if some speak a ‘special French’
