Embedded group?

I’m wondering if it wouldn’t be worthwhile having a newsgroup
dedicated to embedded issues.
Most newsgroups are “clutttered” with setting up issues
with QNX6 on x86 PCs.

How about a qdn.public.qnxrtp.embedded newsgroup?
Or a newsgroup for every supported processor?

Your thoughts?

We already have some private.beta.emb_ groups that would
probably be what you were looking for. At the moment they don’t get
much traffic but it may be that they will be made public or perhaps
analogous groups could be established in the public area. I’m not
sure what the plan is for the newsgroups but we’ve just hired a new
fellow (Haris Blentic) who’s in charge of the developer community and
he might be the one to ask about this sort of thing.

Cheers,

Kris

As to me It’s a strange to not see this newsgroup.
I’m still supposing the QNX RtP is for embedded systems at first.

Or a newsgroup for every supported processor?

It’s a good idea too, but it’s a next step, i thought.

Your thoughts?

It’s odd to not see here QSSL’s delegats.

Sorry for my poor english.
Eduard.

Absolutely, I yet complained about the topics found in packager utility,
mostly targetted on desktop applications.
It sounds like if QSSL was not so more interested by industrial
applications!

Alain.

I’ve forwarded your request to the IS department here (I think they look
after the newsgroups).

However, my cynical side says that people will post all sorts of clutter
in an embedded newsgroup, just as they do for all the others.

This is a good point - a qdn.public.qnxrtp.embedded newsgroup would be a
good addition. The processor-specific ones I agree should also be available.
I’ll work on getting these online…

cheers

Hi Kris

I am currently a member of several of the beta groups. I wonder if I could
become a member of the embedded X86 group?

My QUICS user ID is (was?) bcaroselli.

I hear you. Is moderating an option?

I just asked around. It looks like Ben (ben@qnx.com) is administering the
beta stuff so he should be able to help you get access. Drop him a line and
see what he can do for you.

Another addition I would suggest is qdn.public.admin for reporting problems and
discussing features of the qdn news-groups.

For example, in comp.os.qnx, an article titled something like AppleTalk PAP is
threaded under one titled something like QNX4 Photon and Roll Mouse.

In this admin group, a FAQ could be periodically posted explaining posting
policies and describing for each newgroup what content is expected to be
included in them to help posters get their questions in the best place(s) to
elicit answers.
