QDN

What’s up with http://qdn.qnx.com? Latest news is from July 6th 2001. Last
article was 4 months ago. It’s not like there haven’t been been developer
news items (Eclipse, Telematcs platform, 6.2 beta, etc.). QNX does not seem
to update their website, and yet they seem unwilling to provide links to
people that do (QNXZone to name one). I won’t even go into the confusing
product naming, zero pricing information, and out of date 3rd party
information. When will QNX learn to use the web effectively?

Regards,
Stephen

Last I heard their is no one assigned on the current QDN.

The only thing being updated is www.qnx.com cause marketing handles it.

Let’s see if Alec will drop in to give an explanation and maybe
come up with some good news.

Indeed I remember when they transform quics into QDN. It was the new
wave, at first people were frustrated, but then over time QDN became useful
and started delivering on its promised. Not a good way to increase
confidence level…

The situation on QDN is about to be rectified.

Some of you may remember Haris Blentic. I hired him last fall to
specifically work with the developer community and QDN. At the same time,
we had been looking to recruit a tools product manager. The fall quarter
was a hard quarter for us. Revenue was down because of the global recession
and September 11th caused many of our customers to hold off on purchases.
Consequently, we put off hiring the tools product manager, and asked Haris
to step in temporarily, reasoning that QDN was already in rough shape and
product management on our tools effort with Eclipse was desparately needed.
Haris will shortly be returning to his developer community role, and so QDN
should start to improve again.

Thanks for your patience.

Alec.

No problem. I’m always interested in hearing when our customers think we
have improving to do. Keep letting us know when you see problems.

Alec.
