Snapshot and Printing

Hello,

I have just upgraded a system to the June 2000 version of QNX4 and Photon
1.14. We use snapshot to capture and then output
the different screens to the printer. I followed the printer setup in the
Photon docs, (copied the “printers.sample” to “printers”, started
lpsrvr, etc). But I get a “Error 0 while attempting to open printer
definition” error. I’ve never seen this before.

Could someone point me in the right direction as to what I have missed in
the setup?

Thanks,

Kevin Hammond.

Hi Kevin,

we had the same error message with the latest snapshot update.
Check the config file “/usr/photon/print/printers” :
The section for Photon-Stream files must contain the entry “Filename=”

e.g.

[PHS_FILE]

Filename = /tmp/1.phs
Properties = prprops

NonPrintable = 500
Supported Resolution = 75,150,300,600
Supported PaperSize = 8268x11614:A4,8500x11000:Letter,8500x14000:Legal
Supported Color = 0:B&W,2:Color
Supported Dithering = 5:ErrorDiffussion,6:HalfTone
Supported Orientation = 0:Portrait,1:Landscape
Supported Intensity = 100
Supported InkType = 1:B&W,4:Color (CMYK),6:Color (Neon)

Michael,

Thank you for your quick response. Sorry I have been slow in mine, I’ve
been out of town and then a nasty case of the flu.

I tried your suggestion and still got the same error message.

Kevin

Can someone at QNX respond to this question? I am curious about the
“Error 0 while attempting to open printer definition” message when I try
and capture a screen using the June 2000 cd version of snapshot. It has
worked
fine on my laptop since the install.

Thank you.
