Photon 1.12 Training Course

As has been evident by several of my preceding posts, I’ve had to learn many
of the more advanced Photon features because the Photon programmer we had no
longer works here and we are in the process of changing our “look and feel”.

I found that we own the Training Course that QSSL offered for version 1.12
so I went through the entire course. It was very beneficial.

My first question is, who is the naked guy that sits in the chair looking
angrily at the screen in most of the slides?

Has there ever been an update to the notes for later version of Photon? And
as owners of the 1.12 notes are we entitled to any updates? or can we
purchase any updates?

Answered via email.

Regards,
Dave B.

Hey now,
The rest of us wanted to know, who is the naked guy that sits in the chair
looking
angrily at the screen in most of the slides too. And of even greater
concern is WHY is
he in a GUI training presentation?

And
as owners of the 1.12 notes are we entitled to any updates? or can we
purchase any updates?
This is a very valid question that every client SHOULD be told.

Hopefully I won’t be giving away any QNX trade secrets. I received an
e-mail from Dave Boltz @ QNX. His reply was:

“. . . I don’t know who the guy in the chair is . . .”
“. . . someone else will have to get back to me about updated training
material . . .”

I never heard from anyone at QSSL again regarding this post.

So now you know everything that I know.

Thanks Bill,
I guess we just have to wait for somebody at QNX to get back to us with the
info…

I’ll answer the initial post… My apologies if this got lost in the
works somewhere. I do recall the question (not a lot of people ask
about the naked guy )

This is PowerPoint clipart of a cartoon character that is on the bottom
right corner of every hands-on exercise page. I see him as concentrating
very hard, not being angry .

Has there ever been an update to the notes for later version of Photon?

The last update for this Photon course (i.e. Photon for QNX 4) was
February 26, 2001 (the rev number is R06). The course material is
accurate up to the current version of Photon for QNX 4 - the corresponding
API simply hasn’t changed. If you want to know what changed from older
versions of the notes then send email to training@qnx.com.

And as owners of the 1.12 notes are we entitled to any updates? or can we
purchase any updates?

We do not give out updates to customers who already own the notes however
the latest version of the notes can be purchased for $180 USD plus shipping.
Purchasing can be done through your sales rep.

Based on feedback from customers, if you have not taken the course then
the course notes, though still useful, are not as useful as reading a book.

Well, speaking as someone who has not taken the course (I sent one of
my employees) but who has worked with Photon for years, I found going
through the course material to be very useful. I was looking for just
a few specific things however. And the course did go into better
detail then the helpviewer docs.
