What are people using these days for PC diagnostic software (X86)?
In the past I have used MicroScope 2000 and was reasonably impressed with
it. I need to buy something new and was wondering if I should just get the
latest copy or try something else.
Has anyone ever written a complete library of diagnostic software for QNX?
I’d be interested in that too.

I don’t understand your question. I am looking for software that runs
exhaustive memory test and at least basic tests of all standard peripherals.
What is prompting me to do this is that I have several systems that come up
with a RAM Memory test failure when rebooted, even via a reset switch,
unless powered down first. I assume that this is a hardware failure of some
kind. But as long as the systems are powered down and back up they do work
fine.

Well, as far as i know there are no alike tools which would perform a
complex system test. Lots for DOS buf i’v never saw them for QNX[4]. Maybe i
just missed smth.
But easy memory test can be done by hands. More complicated test with
attempt to access physical memory is more complicated but also possible.
Peripherials… Depends. Serial ports are tested fine with simple loopback
code. Keyboard/ps2 mouse controller after some magic also. CMOS test also
simple. I guess video and ATA/ATAPI stuff requires the heavy black magic

Well for starters I’ll take any recommendation for any product no matter
what it runs under.
The microscope product is nice because the diskette is bootable. It runs
under it’s own OS and is therefore OS independent.
