Any QNX users in Rochester, NY area

Hi

I wondering if there are any QNX users in the Rochester, NY area?

Not me. But I wish I were. I went to RIT long, long ago. It’s pretty up
there.

Hi Bill

What did you do at RIT?

I’m going there for their M.S. Program in Software Development and
Management.

Because of my original background (EE, U of Waterloo) the IT guys drive me a
little bit nuts with what they think is “reliable” or “real-time”. Other
than that, though, its a great program.

Hi Dave

Student. Long, long ago, I took courses at RIT in commercial photography.

Funny story. When I was in high school I had 4 years of programming and 3
years of electronics, and loved them both. I would have loved to become a
programmer but I was convinced that there was no job security. After all,
in school they give you a project and you finish it and very often you don’t
ever tough it again. So I figured that if a company hired you to write a
program, after it was done they didn’t need you anymore.

So after high school I pursued a career in commercial photography, my other
great love. It wasn’t until I couldn’t get work in that field that I was
forced to take a job as a programmer.

Every now and then I think back on that philosophy and chuckle. I’m
actually still making changes to programs that I wrote over 20 years ago
that I’ve brought with me from employer to employer. They just keep getting
better and better.

Why? I still have fun with photography. I’ve won some awards. I’ve been
published.

I used to do a lot of creative work in the dark room. Now I have a couple of
digital cameras and a scanner and do my creative work using photo software.
And I don’t smell so bad anymore (at least not from dark room chemicals ;~}

Well none that I can show off here.

My soon to be ex wife sold cosmetics on the internet. I had over 400
product photos that we on her web site (which no longer exists). I also had
some contributions to some “adult” web sites.

Long ago I won some awards for some legitimate fashion photography. I also
won two KINSA (Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot Awards) awards. Now
my favorite subject is my daughter, Emily, who’ll be 3 in August.
