That’s funny. Did you read the “percentage” breakdown?

  1. Breakdown of the investment:
$1.00 of each $10.00 membership is put into the investment fund.
$1.00 of each $10.00 membership is put into a maintenance fund, the purpose
of which is to insure any future necessary legal fees are covered. This is
to protect the integrity of the investment fund itself.
The remaining $8.00 will be used to print and mail your certificate, place
and maintain your name and information in our database, and to cover the
associated costs of running the website and database.

Yup. I guess you’ve all seen the spam that some whacko sends out?
Lemme see if I can dig it up… Ahhh… a jewel for sure:

Hello,
If you are a time traveler or alien and or in possession of government or
alien technology I need your help! My entire life and health has been messed
with by evil beings! If you have access to the carbon copy replica model #50
3000 series, the dimensional warp, temporal reversion or something similar
please reply! I simply need the safest method of transferring my
consciousness or returning to my younger self with my current mind/memory. I
need an advanced time traveler to work with who can help me, I would prefer
someone with access to teleportation as well as a variety different types of
time travel. This is not a joke! I am serious! Please send a separate email
to me at: Dragonball03@aol.com if you can help! Thanks

Cheers,
-RK

What is funnier is how they are using compount percent over a period of 500
years with rate of 5% as example to make ‘wow’ amount of money. The
assumption is that money once put into a fund just grow unlimited. Don’t
they know FDIC only insures bank accounts up to $100,000?

Too bad a fund actually just throws money into some ventures which may or
may not return a profit, so profit on your particular $1 comes up only if
fund is profitable as a whole. Too bad money on a large scale can only grow
as much as economy (GNP) grows. Too bad a fund can not invest effectively
more money than economy of country or whole world can accomodate. Too bad 5%
average is only possible while you stay in limited relatively lucrative
niches of economy. Too bad no economy can sustain 5% annual growth over
period of 500 years or even 50 years for that matter. Too bad inflation
tends to follow growth of GNP rather closely on large scale. Too bad many
institutions and even countries of today may not exist in 500 years

This reminds an old joke about an old man who promices a Shakh to teach his
donkey to speak in 40 years if he gets food supply for next 40 years. When
asked how he’s going to handle that deal, he says ‘in 40 years either I will
be dead, or the donkey or the Shakh’.
