Antique calculators

not really QNX related, but hey, it’s the cafe

Just finished taking some more/better pictures of my antique
test equipment and calculator collections. Recently added
are the HP-9100B and the Tektronix Scientific 909 calculator.

The HP has a funky CRT wherein it draws the 7-segment characters
on the CRT using vector graphics!

(Oh yeah, for those of you in the Ottawa area we are planning a field
trip to Ford’s in Smith’s Falls http://www.testequipmentcanada.com
on Saturday March 1st )

Latest scientific experiment seems to indicate there is no such thing as
unfolding present (don`t tell that to NTP)

At the time, we snickered at the notion of calling these machines

“calculators.” They were rather amazing compact desktop computers -
especially the later models of the 9100 series. The rumor was that HP
called them that so that they could sell them to the US govt; selling a
“computer” required an act of Congress.
