Oh, probably… depends on which way he wandered through. Or, he may just
have pointed a newsreader at it.

I know that this is posting to a rather old message, but I am catching up
on QNX after an absence of 6 years.

I saw messages here which said the QUICS message base would still be
available in read-only mode, but none of my old usrname/passwords work
anymore.

Then your message says it is web based, but there is no trace of QUICS at
the website mentioned. There is a knowledge base mentioned, but it
doesn’t look nearly big enough at this time to contain all the info that
was in QUICS.

I note that quics.qnx.com still acts as an FTP server for free stuff etc.

So is this just a temporary absence of QUICS while the web site is being
reorganised or what? Are the old conferences archived somewhere.

Regards
Bill williams

Yes, I saw the files & updates before. But what happened to the wealth of
information in the QUICS messages?

It’s all store under /usr/quics/archive/quics/… (going from memory )

Ah, sorry, my email address in the headers has extra junk to hopefully
make it useless to Spammers.

email me at bw-news AT datahighways DOT co DOT uk

General comment: Regrettably, it will only be a matter of time before the
Spam email address gleaners find this cosy corner of the Internet. At
present they seem to be sucking all the addresses out of Google Groups. If
you ever used a real email address on the newsgroups it will probably be
getting spam now.

I love spam now. I used to hate it. But then I wrote this magical program
that sits in the .forward file for the 500 email addresses I have in my
honey-pot, and immediately blocks their IPs and sends a nastygram to their
ISPs. Quite effective and fun! Even if I receive spam in my regular
email account, all I have to do is “bounce” (in elm) the mail to “spam”
and it’s all taken care of.

Cheers,
-RK

My ISP does an awesome job at filtering spam (it ignores email from well
know
relay machine) . I’m impressed.

There is still one or two spam per day that gets through. I’m currently
trying
http://www.cloudmark.com (only for Outlook) and so far I’m getting
impressive results.
