Thanks for the reply,
There does not seem to be any Bios settings or jumpers for changing the bus
speed for this particular HP model.
Apparently HP PC’s are known for being difficult sometimes.
I contacted Coreman about the problem.
There may be some conflicts with some of the PC’s onboard components and
memory allocation.
I think we are going try a new motherboard without all the bells and
whistles.
I’m thinking ASUS motherboard and using a AMD K6 II suggested by Corman.
Any suggestions on what I should components should be used??
We are not to concerned with achieving too much power as much for hardware
reliability and availability.
We would like to keep the Operating consoles alive for another 2-3 years or
until we upgrade out complete mill system.
We have approximately 32 - 486-33Mhz machines and our spares are slowly
depleting.
Thanks again for your response.

if there is a way to drop the speed of the isa bus down that could help
too.
the corman cards weren’t setup for speeds > 8Mhz on the bus … but corman
may have done some work on this.
it is not good when you need to make a pentium run like a 486.

You might want to contact Corman directly about this problem.
I have a Corman card working in a 150Mhz PI, but I’ve never
tried it in anything faster. At 486 and above speeds QNX 2.21
has some network bugs that won’t be fixed, although not all
systems will be affected.
I think the story with the these cards and Pentiums is that you
are on your own. While I’ve never owned an HP computer, the
rumors have always been that they think they know how to build
them better, so they do, but then they are always a little
different. This could be the source of your trouble.
Hope someone can help.
I am trying to install a Quantum Arcnet Adapter onto a Pentium HP
Vectra XU
6/200 or better.
The OS is Qnx 2.21 and we are running Bailey PCV 4.2D. The computer
boots up
fine as a single node without the Arcnet card installed. I previously
installed the OS on a 486 66Mhz machine.
When I install the card I get the NODE ##, and then it seems to hang
up,
keyboard stops responding.
I verified the card settings and are correct.
When I select to boot from the network it does access node 2 and starts
booting, but then reports it can not find certain directories and I
just get
a login prompt.
I tried the speed_correct and speed_patch utilities and nothing seemed
to
have changed regarding the Arcnet card.
I installed the same card and hard disk into the 486 and all works
fine.
Are the Quantum Arcnet Adapters, (CorNet V2.4), compatible with a
Pentium?
Is there a different setup procedure for Pentiums?
