Boot Problem

I have been running Qnx2 on a Pentium 200MHz PC for the last number of
years. This morning the system started to behave erratically.

from the ‘ed’ editor a ! in the command line normally produced a $
prompt. All it did was produce

Press Return to continue

I rebotted the PC. The boot code ran the arrows in the top left hand
corner. Then the system stopped. produced newlines on the screen.
produced nothing. I was able to boot over the newtork and found
some of my problem was that the ‘sh’ command had dissappeared. I
corrected this - to no avail. Still will not boot from disk.

The system has been set to boot
boot 3:/netboot/os.2.21atp.S c=/config/sys.cfg

I can operate from the network - not my ideal solution. Any ideas

Given that the ‘sh’ was ‘missing’ and you have boot problems, it sounds like
you have a failing hard drive.

I would recommend that you replace it.
The fact that you can still access the drive should allow you to retrieve
some of the data before replacing it.

Maybe this is a dead thread, but also the ‘boot’ command you have is missing
the “d=/drivers/disk.” portion.
