Contractor Available

Hello world,

As of January I’m available for contract work.

I’m based in Montréal Canada, but wouldn`t mind working off-site.

For more information about my qualification visit www.zinformatic.com

Hmm… three of the more well names in QNX circles all posting availability
for work, one after the other. It’s official, we are in a recession.

Mario, Robert, Bill, seems like a small QNX oriented startup opportunity for
the three of you

Damnit! Stop flooding the market, you guys!!!

I’m busily working on my video training stuff as “filler”; should be done by the
end of the month… Then I’ll start to look seriously

Cheers,

At least Mario and Robert are in Canada. My closest competion is Mitch, who
I actually think posted here not long ago, althought from the newsreader I’m
going through I can only go back about 10 days.

No need to worry Bill. Since August I’ve been exploring a
possible alternate career as a high school
Math/Science/Computer teacher, as a substitute. In hind
site this looks like an absolutely prescient decision. As
of September 11th I lost a contract and have not had even a
hint of an offer of work. However I really am considering a
switch. I still like the programming, but I’m tired of the
Corporate BS. Of course teaching will no doubt have its
share of.

Well I’m 2hours from QNX itself, in some way we are competitors

Can’t find a post from Mitchell in here. You’re ok Bill

I got one advantage over Bill and Robert, I speak french.
Not sure if I can find comfort in that

I’ve been thinking of writing a post abut the whole situation
(qdn.cafe is missing a long thread…) Is somebody up for it?

Go fot iy Mario.

Actually, I’ve got a story myself.

I know of several large business customers that will give me work if I can
do AS/400 programming. So I bought a big book on AS/400 programming. (Gee,
I can become an expert in 600 pages, can’t I?) Two things have come to mind
so far.

  1. It’s like stepping back about 20 years in time. I mean I got my start
on IBM business systems and it doesn’t seem like they’ve evolved a bit.

  2. Everything that the AS/400 brags about is the complete opposite of what
QNX brags about. I.E. Welcome to the monolithic software program. It’s
    all part of OS/400.

On a more serious note, I notice that there is C++ on the AS/400. I’m very
confident using C++ even on a strange computer. But no one seems to
actually be using it. The more common language seems to be RPG400. Oh Gee.
I did RPG-II way back in school but I forget most of it. Anyway, I’m
learning it all over again.

If anyone has any practicle advice about AS/400 programming please feel free
to comment here or in private mail.
