QNX 4.25 instllation on compactflash

Hi,

I’am using an Adventech SBC with a Geode CPU and Chipset. I need to know
how to install QNX 4.25 on a compactflash IDE card, it’s the secondary
master on that CPU board. If I plug a QNX harddrive as the primary master
QNX works find.

can somebody help me I’am new with QNX installation…

thank’s

The procedure is no different from installing QNX 4.25 on a hard drive,
at least if you are doing it by hand. If you see the /dev/hd1 drive listed
the steps are as follows:

  1. fdisk /dev/hd1 ( create a partion
  2. mount -p /dev/hd1 ( mount the new partition
  3. dinit -h /dev/hd1t77 ( initialize the partition
  4. mount /dev/hd1t77 /hd ( mount the load point

Now copy all needed files to the newly mounted drive. Here is a short list

/hd/.boot
/hd/bin/sh
/hd/bin/mount
/hd/bin/Dev
/hd/bin/Dev.ansi ( if you need a console
/hd/bin/tinit ( if you want to start shells
/hd/etc/config/sysinit

I agree installation on Compact Flash is similar than HD
install. However, I’ve met some serious problems when installing from
CD. If I’m installing directly to flash, installation goes fine but
result is system which boots up, but just before giving login-prompt
it says ‘sh: cannot execute’ and is jammed. All drivers look like
starting ok, etc.

So, I have done installation to small HD, and used qnx drive copy
script (or what ever it was called) to copy system from HD to flash.

Similar problem occurs when I run QNX update, system says ‘sh: cannot
execute’. Moving system to HD, running update and moving back works
fine.

I’ve reported this as a bug maybe two years ago, don’t know if
situation is still same?
