Assuming that you are willing to clobber everything on the target hard
drive with the copy from the source hard drive, do as follows:

  1. create partition(s) on the new disk to mimick the source disk.
  2. dinit those partitions
  3. cp -cfLnOpRv /root_dir_on_source_partition /root_dir_on_target_partition

Be aware that there re just a few things that this won’t copy correctly.
If the source drive was bootable it won’t copy /.boot or /.altboot so
copy those manually.

If you use old style licenses (i.e. /etc/licenses) it won’t copy them
corretly. You have to erase what it did do and use the license utility.

  1. rm /target_drive/etc/licenses
  2. license /source_drive/etc/licenses /target_drive/etc/licenses

Hope this helps.
