boot disk

Can somebody help me to make a boot disk for version 4.22 I can’t get on the
system because someone have lost the root password,

If you still have the install disks, boot the OS install disk #1.
Quit or exit the install. I think you just don’t type install.
Instead type:
Fsys.eide &
mount -p /dev/hd0
mount /dev/hd0t77 /hd0
mv /hd0/etc/passwd /hd0/etc/passwdX
sync
(reboot)

When the system comes back up there will be no /etc/passwd file so it
will just let you login as root.

Go into your favorite editor and edit the ‘x’ or ‘*’ out of the second
field on the root line. Save the file and rename it back to
/etc/passwd. This turns off password protection for root, but re-
enables the password system.

Now type ‘passwd’ (the utility) and give root a new password.
