changing the vga driver to support portrait

I have no knowledge of video hardware, however
I need to change “devg-vga.so” so that it displays in portrait mode.

Does anyone know what file, what function, what variables I should be
considering changing to do this?
Somehow, perhaps switch the row & column indexes.
I dought it is as easy as that, what would be the general approach?

I was told that the next version of photon will support portrait display,
does anyone know when this release will occur?

Any info, help, or WWW links would be greatly appreciated!
