Modem: Connection failed ??

Hello  I got at last one REAL modem to use with QNX RTP. I connected it
to COM1 and tried to connect from the “dialer” utility (in the Photon
desktop).

Well!! It appears to be perfect. I selected /dev/ser1 as serial
device and wrote the information to connect to my ISP. Then I pushed
“Connect” … and the connection status window showed in from of me. Oopps…
bad luck: in a few seconds it showed a message saying “Connection failed”.
ehm?

I tried again activating an option that let you see the commands that
are sent to the modem and it appeared this:

ATZ

OK

ATM1

'few seconds… and then

Connection failed

Uhmm, there is more about this problem… I have heard about a program
called “qtalk” to test the modem on any serial port and send commands to it
manually. I started this program and simulated the action of the Dialer from
Photon. This is the log of commands that I’ve seen using qtalk (on
/dev/ser1 , of course )

ATZ

OK

ATM1

OK

ATDT (+ a telephone number) /this string is used to dial

and… IT DIALS!! I know this because I hear the sounds that the modem
“plays”.

What do you think? Dialer only sends the “ATZ” followed by “OK” and “ATM1”
has not any answer. But when I write the commands it qtalk THEY WORK.

Whats the problem??
Thank you very much!!!

QSSL, maybe you should expand the ddk in qdn.public.ddk.* to
driver-development or something ? I think there are a lot of people who
don’t know what ddk means (when you think about it, it isn’t surprising
that this would be the case, although it didn’t cross my mind until
recently either).

Hi
Im having almost the same problem…
When I try to connect to the internet, dialer says Coonection failed right
after ATZ command…
I suspect it is because the port on serial1 is already open, but how do I
close it? How did you send commands in Qtalk? Im newbie and dont know how to
use it :frowning:
BTW, I have external Microcom DeskPorte 56K Voice modem…

What is DDK?
thanks to all
