I have installed QNX 6.1 on my hard drive using the iso installation disk.
When I did this my keyboard and mouse seems to have hung the system. I did
not have this problem in QNX 6.0, only when I installed the QNX 6.1.
In safe mode, I looked at pidin arg and mem to find out what device I should
install with devi-hirun, I got the command “devi-hirun kbd fd -d/dev/kbd ps2
mousedev”. I tried running it manually but it still does not work.
I tried booting up in safe mode and manually run devi-hirun using this
command “devi-hirun kbd kbddev ps2 mousedev” and the keyboard worked but no
mouse movement.
I noticed that the mouse pointer is displayed but would not move. Also I
tried running the kbddev device again and it stoped working.
What could be causing this problem?
I have included some details I got from pci -v. Thank you for helping me.

I have a PS/2 mouse and keyboard built in the mother board.
I managed to get the keyboard working again.
I just booted in safe mode and ran
devi-hirun kbd kbdev ps2 mousedev
at the terminal. I still could not make the mouse move, although the mouse
pointer is visible.

Hi Edward,
Check to make sure that under the BIOS you don’t have USB Legacy Support turned on,
or “DOS mode USB Support”. Make sure that it is disabled. Also can you get the
latest devi-hirun from developers.qnx.com? If so please try that and see if it
helps.

Edward is not the only one with this problem.
Go take a look at my series of posts under the
qnxrtp.installation group for the full details.
But a brief summary would be:
GXLV based box w/onboard IR mouse/kb
controller – works w/6.0, dies with 6.1A,
dies “worse” with new devi-hirun.
GX1 based box w/onboard IR mouse/kb
controller – works w/6.0, dies with 6.1A,
works with new devi-hirun
GXm based box w/external IR mouse/kb
controller (Inland) – works fine
SC1200 based box – still testing.
Would it be too much to ask for someone
to just recompile the old 6.0C devi-hirun
with Dinkum to see if that can at least get
some of us back up & running???
Or is it perhaps a timing problem introduced
by Dinkum itself that is causing all these issues?

I have (yet another) partial solution to this problem and
a much better idea of where the actual problem lies.
On our specific board (GXLV w/onboard IR kb/mouse controller)
I was able to disable the onboard IR (soldered wire to hold chip
in reset) and connect a normal mouse & keyboard via a wired
dongle.
The bad news is, it locked up (saturated) in exactly the same
manner – and I tried multiple mouse combinations (Microsoft,
Logitech, etc).
So as a next step, we pulled the mouse and just started with
the keyboard alone. This did not saturate and seems ok –
just not very useful (ever tried using Photon without a mouse?).
So next, we started devu-ohci and the usb mouse driver and
then fired up Photon by hand with the input specified to be
the USB mouse.
This combination actually works.
What this basically means that the PS/2 mouse handling
portion of devi-hirun (even the new version) is still broken.
Any suggestions?

Michael, I’m trying to find this device(s) to test devi-hirun and to
localize your problem. BTW, have you tried to use devi-hirun from
developers.qnx.com ? This version has some important fixings and should work
better than the one from Patch A.

What boards are those Geodes on? We have a few GX1 boards in house, but I
