This is a great office suite and would be perfect for QNX. Is there
anyone who might be interested in doing a native port? I’m not a
programmer but I would be interested in contributing some cash!

Yep - and there are a pile of other people interested in helping as well.
The discussion will probably heat up more when all the legal-eez is hashed
out and a firm date for source release is made.

Well, looking at their web site, the box looks nice and clean (but not
modular Too bad one can’t infer code quality from the box

that was a big beheamoth nightmare. Didn’t even want to think
about starting a porting effort on that.

When I saw this post on an OSNews forum I understood why there wasn’t much
community interest in actually doing the port. I wouldn’t want to do
it either…Let’s hope that Gobe is easier

I can tell you right now, that there WILL be a port of OpenOffice.org to
Silicon Graphics’ IRIX. And that I’m working on it right now!
Actually, I’m writing the bridge, which is a horrible horrible part of
the office, and for a number of good reasons takes a long time and has
to be written in a mixture of C++, assembly and machine code.

BTW: Abiword is what I’m using now, and except for the shoddy MS .doc format
support it pretty much handles everything I need.

I wasn’t aware that you were working on the MS .doc readers/writers for Abiword
I actually meant it as a compliment to everyone who worked on it (you and Phearbear
AFAIK). It’s working great for me.
