Can't shut down PPPD

Hi All!

platform SH4 on ASPEN TAHOE:

I’ve created a custom application that dials an ISP and then spawns PPPD.
All seems to be working well except when I want to disconnect.

PPPD does not respond to kill -9 : I get the return message
kill: No such process
the pid for pppd is clearly visible from the pid application and in
/var/run/ppp0.pid

using slay I can kill pppd but I always get an io-net sigsegv code 1,
fltno=11 and ip, mapaddr and ref.

As I’m running on an embedded platform I run most of the stuff out of flash
only having mapped
/var/run and /tmp to /dev/shmem
All the other stuff is read-only.

Is this a problem? I can imagine PPPD trying to access some of it’s files
when shutting down and crashing in the process but I don’t know for sure.

Also on a side note I’ve experienced the hard way that the SH4 version of
PPPD does not support the logstatus option - had to rethink my strategy
completely

Anyway

What is the version of procnto (try uname -a) ? The way
“killing pppd casuing io-net crash” sounds like an very
old procnto bug…

Hi! Xtang!

it reads:
QNX Localhost 6.00 2001/04/02-14:17:59EDT ASPEN shle
it seems old - but not very old.
