HELP building QNX image for Assabet (SA1110)

Hello,
I’m trying to build an image of QNX RTOS 6.1 for the Intel StrongARM
platform (Assabet) following the “Running the QNX RTOS on Intel StrongARM
SA-1110/SA-1111 Development Platform” document (3901QNXSA.pdf). After the
image is built (by calling mkifs) I’m asked to invoke the “BL” utility to
add the header information to the image in order to be read by the
Telematics Bootloader (yes, I’m using this bootloader). The problem is that
I can’t find this utility anywhere…

Can anyone help me?
Many thanks,
-luca

I hope I’m not too late on this reply, but I’ve been looking into the same
board, and I believe the utility you’re looking for is available from Intel
as part of their development kit. Their (Intel’s) board support pages
contain quite a few handy utilities. How would you evaluate the Assabet
board with QNX? Is it everything you’ve ever expected? (or more?.. or less
:frowning: … )

Cheers,
Mike Kadour

Thank for your answer, but this utility is still a phantom. The
SA-1110/SA-1111 development kit contains only the PDF version of the
included documentation, some bootloaders and the jflash utility (win32).
About the “BL Utility” there is no way to find some information or link
(e.g. to a source code) in any web site (QNX.com, ARM.com, Intel.com, etc.).
I’m evaluating some possible operating system (Linux, QNX, eCos, etc.) to
run on the Assabet/Neponset board for a realtime application. Have you had
any experience with QNX (or others OS) on Assabet? I would appreciate some
hints to start-up the development system.

Regards,
-luca

I may have found the missing “BL” utility…

First off, the “BL” utility is a custom Telematics QNX utility. Intel
provides a Telematics Bootloader development kit free, which includes
porting utilites. Presumably, the “BL” utility is included with the kit.
If not, it should be something you could request from them.

Further Telematics documentation, references and tools can be found at:

http://www.intel.com/design/wireless/telematics/designcenter/

Of particular interest, in section 5.0 of:
http://www.intel.com/design/wireless/telematics/designcenter/3501TBPB.pdf

“The Bootloader Developer Kit includes a porting/user guide with several
platform examples. A source code license agreement must be signed to
receive the Bootloader Developer Kit. Please contact your local Intel sales
representative for more information.”

I will be contacting my “local Intel sales representative for more
information” this week. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Cheers,
