GTK and Gaim

When I load Gaim it seems to wait a while and then gives the message:

“Cannot open display 127.1:0” and quits. Can someone help? I don’t
appear to be able to get any GTK apps working despite having installed GTK

I will assume you are using 6.2.0 (as 6.2.1 has just been released).

You need to ensure that you have the XFree86 packages installed and that
you start XPhoton properly. You can get this replacement ph script and
copy it to /usr/bin and chmod 755 it to start XPhoton each time photon
starts.

That didn’t work, it failed to even start photon and said something
about file or directory not found (an error in the script I think).
Fortunately I backed up the old ph file so that’s OK! I don’t know that
I’m not using version 6.1.1, I only downloaded QNX two days ago so I
have which ever version was available for download then.

Thanks!

You aren’t using 6.2.1 if you downloaded it since 6.2.1NC has not been
released yet. And that script doesn’t have any errors (lots of people
are using it). It is likly that your download was screwy or you forgot
to “chmod 755” the script after you copied it into /usr/bin.

Ah, ok. I don’t think the download was screwy and I did chmod the file. I’m
a linux user normally so I have no problem with that. Oh well, it doesn’t
matter too much. I’ll keep playing with it or stick to linux for the moment,
though that’s a shame because I really like QNX.
