glib complaining...

Hello,

I have installed gtk 1.2.10 from Cogent, along with glib 1.2.10 and
Xphoton. I had to tinker with /usr/bin/ph changing /usr/X11R6 to
/opt/X11R6, and Xphoton to XPhoton, as adviced in several posted
messages, and I finally got it working. However I still get an error
message from glib when gtk starts up, telling me that “getpwuid_r()
failed because is not a user” or something like that, where is 0
for root, and 200 for the only user I have defined. Does anybody know
what is still wrong?

It is unfortunate that you have to touch system files to change
X-Windows work properly; that did not use to happen in the 6.1
release…

It is a bug in glib on QNX. It should be fixed in the next release of
the Public CDROM.

It is simply due to release timings. XPhoton (vs. Xphoton) has now been
released as an open-source project and is (will be) integrated into the
main XFree86 source tree. This was done too late into the release cycle
for 6.2.0 to change the ph script. The next release will startup XPhoton
properly again.

Actually it’ll attempt to start Xphoton as well if it can’t find XPhoton
(for those people (are there any?) that prefer Xphoton and still have a copy of
it
