Suggested laptop for QNX 6.20?

What’s a suggested laptop to run QNX 6.20? I need
FireWire ports for a digital camera, as I’m moving a vision
system over to QNX. What laptops are fully supported by
QNX? The “supported hardware” list isn’t that helpful.

Check out qdn.public.qnxrtp.os and look for the thread
‘Laptops working with QNX6.2’ for some suggestions.

OK, thanks. It wasn’t obvious where to look.

IBM A-series Thinkpads look promising.

Anyone try the new eMachines laptop? It has a 15" wide screen, AMD mobile
processor, and an ATI graphics chipset (ATI® RADEONT IGP 320M).

It sounds like it ought to work. Anyone know if it works?

There really ought to be a repository of Notebooks and models that are known
to work. I agree that the existing “supported hardware” is only minimally
useful. While I agree that it is a daunting task for the folks at QSSL to
keep something like that up, it really would help us to keep a list. Even
an unofficial list or FAQ kept by us here.

Cheers,
Steve

Asked this six months ago; it’s time to ask again.

What’s a good low end laptop for QNX? Need Ethernet and
better display support than VESA. Audio, FireWire,
USB, and PCMCIA don’t have to work.

Problem is, we can’t really say. Best suggestion – take an install
CD around to a few stores, boot & run from CD – and see what graphics
modes you get, see if you can get the ethernet to work.

One of the main problems – laptops often have “custom” versions
of various bits of hardware, and they often change which hardware
bits are in them with little or no notice.
