How can I uninstall 6.2.1 beta release to go back to 6.2 rel

Hello, all

I have a 6.2.1 Beta release installed and I am going to upgrade to
6.2.1 from 6.2.0 on QNX Neutrino x86 system.

In 6.2.1 Commercial version Installation Note, it says
“If you have a 6.2.1 Beta release installed, we recommend that you uninstall
it before you install this commercial release.”

But I have a problem of uninstalling 6.2.1 beta and couldn’t find proper
information about it.

The problem what I have is
uninstalling 6.2.1 Beta release not 6.2.1 Commercial version to go back to
6.2 release
before installing 6.2.1 Commercial version.

What is the uninstalled environment for upgrading to 6.2.1?

It seems that just to copy 6.2 kernel image to .boot file has a problem.
It caused booting failed and showed
“Could not resolve all symbols, couldn’t access packages and spawn of shell
failed”

And I tried to uninstall QNX Momentics for Neutrino under 6.2.1 beta release
with QNX Software Installer.
But I couldn’t even select the QNX Momentics for Neutrino(x86) item to
uninstall except non-x86 targets.
In case of a non-x86 target, I could uninstall it. What is wrong?
Is there any relation between uninstalling QNX Momentics for Neutrino
packages and Kernel version?

I have no idea the process to uninstall 6.2.1 Beta release installed.
Pleas let me know how to uninstall 6.2.1 Beta release to go back to 6.2.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
If your working with a self hosted installation the process is very simple:

  1. Firstly, backup any personal files that you would like to keep from the
    6.2.1 beta.
  2. Second, boot using the 6.2.1 GA (commercial version) release cd and chose
F3 to install QNX to your partition.
  3. Third, Follow the instructions and install directly over top of the beta
    installation.

The main point of the statement asking recommending the uninstall is not to
upgrade the beta release to the GA (commercial version) release as its not
supported.

It seems that just to copy 6.2 kernel image to .boot file has a problem.
It caused booting failed and showed
“Could not resolve all symbols, couldn’t access packages and spawn of
shell
failed”

You can’t do this because the two images are build using incompatible
libraries

And I tried to uninstall QNX Momentics for Neutrino under 6.2.1 beta
release
with QNX Software Installer.
But I couldn’t even select the QNX Momentics for Neutrino(x86) item to
uninstall except non-x86 targets.
In case of a non-x86 target, I could uninstall it. What is wrong?

This is a feature of the installer. It prevents you from inadvertently
destroying an installation. At this time the X86 target is required for
proper operation.

I have no idea the process to uninstall 6.2.1 Beta release installed.
Pleas let me know how to uninstall 6.2.1 Beta release to go back to 6.2.

I believe that the install / release notes also say that upgrading from
6.2.0 to 6.2.1 is a one way trip. Once 6.2.1 is installed you can not revert
back to 6.2.0 by uninstalling.

Hope that helps
