hicups installing 6.2.1

Trying to install 6.2.1 on a BP6 motherboard. I had no problem installing
all beta. I must install from floppy since can’t machine to boot from PC.

I created the floppy from the dialog that pops up when cd is inserted in
Windows.

I could boot from the floppy, it would complain that it can’t find
/.diskboot.

I try the same procedure in an Inspiron 7500 and got the same results.

Back to the BP6, I used a 6.1 floppy to boot and install from the 6.2.1 CD
without any problem. When I rebooted the machine would lock up hard (no
numlock) and last thing display is “” from the rotation symbol. Trying
verbose mode there is to many data to make sense of (for me that is). The
CD-ROM and HD were detected, but it stops after that. I tried disabling as
much stuff as I could to no avail.

Swapping CD-ROM fix the problem ??? The CD-ROM was a plextor CD burner. If
there was a CD in the CD-ROM the PC would hang as describe above. If there
was no CD the PC would boot, the CD-ROM was mounted under /fs/cd0 but the cd
was unreadable.

The CD-ROM burner is working fine (under windows) on that same PC.
