Problems with EMACS source code

Dear all,

I downloaded and installed the source code for EMACS on my QNX RTP 6.1
system . Now I would like to compile it but if I do the ./configure I
get an error message:

source not found in . and …

It might be a stupid question but I tried to use configure with various
options and read the INSTALL file. Nonetheless, I didn’t find a solution.

Thanks in advance, Thomas

In which directory are you ?
You schould by in directory /usr/src/emacs-xxx in which are source files and
file ‘configure’ too.

Dear Newsgroup!

I’m in the directory /usr/src/emacs-21.1 where the ‘configure’ file
resides too. But the source code is in <src/e> and <src/e>. I didn’t
change the directories and I’m running GNU make which can handle various
directories with the VPATH variable.

Why is configue interested in the source path and why it is not possible
to run the standard distribution without changes?

Regards, Thomas
