ftp transfer slow

Hi all,

When I connected to QNX 6.2 via ftp from a windows host, I find the ftp
transfer is not stable. Sometimes it’s 1xxxkbps, and sometimes only 2.x
kbps. Especially for bin mode transfer, it’s the slowest. Did you find the
similar phenomenon ever before? Any advice?

I had this problem with 6.2. It was cause by network driver not detecting
connection type. While waiting for 6.2.1 to correct the problem the
solution I found was to disconnect the cable for a few seconds and connect
it again or to force the connection speed (I had to specify half-duplex)

How should I force the connection speed? I find from the nicinfo my nic is
already half duplex.

I don’t remember, personnaly I tend to override all the stuff in the

automatic startup and put everything in /etc/rc.d/rc.local.

I beleive there is a file in /etc/system called net (not sure of full
name) that you can edit to pass argument to driver at startup no sure.

Mario,

By what statement can I force the connection speed, if I’d like to include
it in the rc.local?

Look at the documentation to io-net and the corresponding network driver.

Thanks! I’ve fixed it as you advised.

in the rc.local file:
slay io-net
io-net -d speedo duplex=0,speed=10 -p ttcpip &

Now the ftp works very smoothly!

I’d prefer

umount /dev/io-net/en0
mount -Tio-net -oduplex=0,speed=10 /lib/dll/devn-speedo.so

Just my $0.02

Best regards,

Karsten.
