Porting samba. How was it done?

Hi all:

I have a problem with smbd on both QNX4 and 6. I would like to port smbd so
that I can see if 1) the problem has gone away since the 3rd party version
and 2) debug smbd so that I can track down the problem.

I have downloaded the latest from samba.org and I am having all sorts or
problems getting it to compile. I was hoping that since the port has already
been done, the porter could supply the details.

TIA
Andy

I am not the porter
but, isn’t the ported source included on the 3rd party CD ?

Frank:

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the 6.2.1 3rd party cd and I cant see it
there (in the src.zip).

you can’t?
I just looked. it IS in there.
there must be something wrong.
maybe your zip problem doesn’t like the src.zip that QSS created?
I know lots of people had that problem and that’s why there is a
tar.gz version around:

Frank:

Got it. Thanks for the help. Using winzip on the 3rd party cd only shows
half of what the src.tar.gz file had. Now I have some new reading to do…

Thanks
Andy

But the ported samba is the version 2 and I suppose that Andy has
downloaded samba 3.
I also tried to build Samba 3 without success. I didn’t had time to
really look at the problem.
I think that we need a more recent libtool release what was not so easy
recently.
libtool 1.5 is still from April 14th and according to my tests it
doesn’t work fine.

Anyway Samba 2.2.4 works fine except some curious problems of zombie or
cpu squeezing sometimes.

Alain.
