Application Documentation

Hi,

We have some industrial installations using QNX 4.25 and Photon 1.13.
The final customer is asking us to include all the project related
documentation in our applications. The documentation include User
Manuals and Maintenance Manuals written in Microsoft Word, mechanical
documents created on AutoCAD, electrical schemes created with e-Plan,
and some diagrams written using Microsoft Visio.

The customer demand can be easily achieved using PDF format and a PDF
viewer in Microsoft Windows platforms, but we are using QNX4/Photon. We
will appreciate any idea to solve the customer needs without to use
another machine.

Thanks in advance.

Ghostscript has some level of support for PDF, but I wouldn’t use it for
anything proffessional. I would use another machine if PDF if required.

If you could output the documentation in HTML that could be a viable option,
either with Voyager (Photon brower) or even Helpviewer if you can use subset
of HTML standard (don’t remember what subset it is though)

Thanks in advance.

According to the docs, helpviewer supports HTML 1.0 with a few extensions.
I know that it doesn’t support the and tags, but otherwise,
it works well – as long as you don’t get too fancy.

Take a look at the docs for helpviewer in the Photon Installation &
Configuration guide, and the Context-Sensitive Help chapter of the Photon
Programmer’s Guide.

We don’t have a good PDF viewer. If you can export the information as
HTML, that might be your best bet.
