Networkboot

I am having a compaq machine with Intel Chipset Network card & option for
Network boot.
In the bios for setting Network boot setup , i am having the option of
setting PXE & RPL , can anybody tell me whats is this ?

If i set PXE & try to boot , i get DHCP…& waits for some time & gives
an error, At that time in my QNX Host which has already started inetd (
with bootps in .etc/inetd.conf file) gives a message that " someone wants
bootps". I have given the image file & directory in the bootptab file as
per the documentation. But i am unable to boot from the Network.

If i set RPL , it waits for some time & exits, but now i will not get any
message in the Qnx Host.

Can anybody help me out?

You need to have TCP/IP setting into boot setup of your compaq. Then be
sure to uncomment also tftpd into /etc/inetd.conf. It is very important
also to setup your /etc/bootptab file, where you are assigning boot image
file to be transfered through tftp session to the mashine having MAC
address XXXX ( in your case MAC address of your laptop ). This is how it
works. I have only one problem, images over 540K could not be transfered.
And was not able to manage with it. Actaully up to this limit I was able
to transfer compressed image with system-bios, procnto, io-net,
devn-speedo.so but no more. Would be interesting what will hapen in your
case !
