PhAB chrashed + corrupted my application...

Hi…

Last night I was working on my PhAB application, and PhAB crashed.
Subsequently, I was not able to bring the application back into PhAB: it
always crashes. I wonder how I could recover the application? I still
see all the components in the proper places, but PhAB will simply not
come back alive. (It does work with other applications.)

Thanks…

Regards.

Miguel.

No consolation, but I too have a PhAB
application limping along here.
At least I can open it, most times selecting “generate”
just crashes ab. (Using it under Windows 2000)
Likewise when generating reports, it always crashes.
No answer from Tech Support as yet :frowning:

Hi,

I never had the problem under QNX RTP. I experienced stuff like that under
QNX 4.
Under QNX 4 you had to open a functioning application, after that you
could open the damaged one without problems. After changing something on
the widgets and generating the APP, everything was OK again.

Good luck!

Hi Frank…

Nope, opening the dead application from a live one did not help. This is
too bad.

Any way, I created a new App., and since I had the source code, it was
faster/easier to just create the app to match the source code.

I have worked with QNX for enough of a long time to know that sometimes
there are no explanations for things such as this. Oh well… Thanks any
way.

Regards…

Miguel.

Hi…

This is the first time that this happens to me. Thanks for telling me
that Tech Support will not be able to help much. I guess that they know
about the problem, but the solution may have a rather low priority for
them. But then again, QNX is big in telematics… Go figure. Thanks
any way.

Miguel.

Of course the hassle with this is the mods you made to resources
and callbacks added-that’s not in the source and can represent
a big loss of work in a case like this!

For a few reasons it may better to do all changes from default
in source code only:
-binary format of appbuilder files makes it diffiult
to figure out what was done if you don’t have appbuilder.
-documentation. It’s difficult and akward to document exactly
what was changed using the appbuilder. For strict projects
where everything must be documented, this is a pain in the butt.

I haven’t done this as yet but for the above reasons,
maybe the next project I will…

Looks like them or me had an email problem.
I’ve sent them the whole project in the hope they
can figure out what/where/why the project file(s) got corrupted.

Hopefully I will have an answer either way from Tech Support
next week.
