I have taken some Windows software http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan and used
the low level code to create a library for accessing some Dell laptop
specific info. In particular it allows me to monitor temperatures and
fans.
With the library I created a /dev/fan device driver which can be
accessed by a shelf plugin (phan.so). The software is all really
preliminary, but from what the Windows author says, it should run on a
fair range of Dell laptops. I am currently running it on an Inspiron 8200.
So, I am looking for some guinea pigs, er test subjects, ah volunteers,
that’s it, volunteers who are willing to try this stuff out. Once I am
more comfortable with it, I will post it publicly somewhere. Send me
some email with the model and version of QNX and I will send you the
software and instructions if you are interested.
