IPFILTER [6.3.0]

hi all,

I’m trying to install ipfilter from 3rd part package, on
QNX 6.3.0 PE but end with an error “failed dependency”, and
I don’t know which dependency is missing…

NB, 3rd part package are same as 6.2.1 [download.qnx.com]

thank for your attention.

If you can post your install log file that would be helpfull. It’s located
at $QNX_HOST/etc/system/package/session.log

It’s in the base 6.3 product. By default, npm-tcpip.so is just a symlink
to npm-tcpip-v4.so. (If you get the Extended Networking Technology
Development Kit, you get npm-tcpip-v6.so, and npm-tcpip.so becomes a link
to it.)

This dependence is due to a ipfilter packageing error. The following steps
will allow you to workaround the problem.

  1. Open /pkgs/base/qnx/depend/core-1.0/MANIFEST in a text editor of your
    choce
  2. Find the section of the file the begins with QPM:ContentDescription
  3. Add ‘QPM:ProvidesLibrarynpm-tcpip-v4.so</QPM:ProvidesLibrary>’
    anywhere within the QPM:ContentDescription section
  4. Save the change
  5. Restart qnxinstall and install the ipfilter package

Note 1: The ipfilter may not work as expected with Momentics 6.3.

Note 2: This technique will work for other packages on the 3rd party cd that
exibit the same problem. However, the required file(s) must exist on the
system in thier expected location(s).

that do the job

could you explain a bit ? did you notice missing feature ? bugs ?

Note 2: This technique will work for other packages on the 3rd party cd

sound obvious to me

thanks for the advice.

Its just a standard disclamer as the 3rd party cd is offered without
support. I know that ipfilter from the 6.2.1 3rd party cd worked with
6.2.1b. However, I have not personaly seen or heard of anyone using it with
6.3 as of yet. So I dont know how well it would work.

The extended network TDK comes with a supported (with a support plan) and
tested version of ipfilter as well as many other usfull networking goodies.
You can find more info about the extended network TDK here:
