QNX 6.2 - installation problem

hello,

I am attempting to get qnx neutrino up and running on my new acer aspire
1700 (2 GB RAM, 120 GB HD, 3 GHz ProcessorSpeed). I’ve downloaded the CD
image (6.2), burnt a CD and installed it to the hard disk (a primary
partition with 15 GB space). Installation of the files completed, but
initial booting is not possible:

  • starting from CD and chosing “Run from CD…”
ends after the screen message “Generating
helpviewer search database” with a halt.

  • starting from CD and chosing “Run from HD
installation” completes the creation of a 128M
swap file and the “helpviewer search database”
but stops the boot process after the message
“Unable to start enum-pccard : Exec format
    error”

  • starting from CD and chosing “ALTBOOT”
by pressing ESC does not even get to the
    point of initial welcome message.

Does anybody have a clue what a configuration could cause this error? Does
anybody have a suggestion except “Use another computer”?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

Did you download the self-hosted ISO? Or are you trying to boot the
Windows Development CD?

Thanks,

i have downloaded the ISO from the QNX.com and installed memontics but
i don’t understand how to load QNX OS. IN the support document it says
to boot the system from CD and can install the OS. If not from the CD
is thr any way whr i can get the OS downloaded.
if i can get any older version of QNX is also fine.
i just want to get hand on expirience on the QNX. being a beginner i
want to do a project on it

Which ISO did you download? If I am not mistaken there is a different
one for each of the hosts that we support. To install QNX on a system
so that it runs stand alone, you need the QNX Momentics for Neutrino CD
( or something like that. Post the exact link that you downloaded the
ISO from ). Downloading Mometics for windows only gives you the
development tools for Windows. It does not give you a CD that you can
boot a system with and install the Neutrino OS with.

Thanks,
