I need to display some *.pdf files from QNX. Apparently, ghostscript can
do this. I have ghostscript installed (so claims the installer).
How do I use it to display PDF files?
I tried:
gs file.pdf
Note: I do NOT have X windows loaded. Ghostscript is implyng that X
is required. If I need to load X I want it to be a one time deal. I don’t
want it to stay loaded.

XPhoton is your friend.
I’m using xpdf from the online repository in 6.3.0 with no problems
(using XPhoton as to Frank’s point)

And it’s a separate install.
Also, XPDF 3.0 is available, http://www.openqnx.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t3057-.html
But I only have a 2.4 GHz with 1 GB RAM. Is that enough to run X?
(He says only half tongue in cheeck.)
If I install X, will QNX load it only when I want it?
Or does a portion of it stay loaded all the time?
(As it seemed to in an older version)

Another option would be to get Ghostscript to render to a bitmap and
display that with any of a number of different tools under Photon.

You know, when I started at QNX (the first time, in early 1995), I had a
Pentium something-or-other (probably 66 or 90 MHz) and, I think 32MB of
RAM (although it might have been 16MB). Photon wasn’t usable yet, so I
“had” to run X to get a GUI desktop (QNX Windows was another option).
No room for desktop background images on that system.
