QNX 6.3...

Is there ANY information on WHEN 6.3 will be out and what features it will
have. I wanted to know if I can exepect some “supported” cdrw drivers and
what other hardware will be supported.

Since you put supported in quotes, does that mean that cdrtools (cdrecord)
isn’t a supported enough solution for your needs?

For 6.3.0 details, talk to your sales rep.

Actually I mean the driver, I can’t leave a experimental or beta driver
running on a customer’s system. I set it up so I could reboot into a image
with the patched driver. But this means we can’t to a “Quick” archive of
the log files, we have to reboot.

What’s wrong with listing the goals or milestones, which QNX is aiming for
with a particular release in their sales literature? Software monkeys don’t
really care if QNX and Cisco have a big contract. Software monkeys just
want to know what features they are going to get when they buy a product or
an upgrade. Marketing just doesn’t get it, selling development tools has
nothing to do with Prestige, just capability.

I belive that 6.2.1B (offical release) includes the updates to cam-cdrom.so
so that cdrecord just works. No unoffical drivers required.

Nothing, just that engineers are not the ones to be asking for them.

Hmm…
I’ll have to give that a try…
I downloaded the CDR stuff that you had to manually update the driver, and
make a build image. I’ll have to see if we have a system that’s going out I
can load the B patch on and try it.

What about DVD burning? cdrecord has limited support for DVD drives. I had
to get some other tools to do the job on Linux. It would be really nice if
RD & DVD burning is supported on QNX. Right now, I put my data drive into a
Linux computer and do the data archiving there. (The Linux kernel was
recompiled to mount QNX4 file system.) I have been patienly waiting for
something that will do the same on QNX so that I don’t have to do the disk
swapping and computer rebooting, etc. At this day and age, that should not
be too much to ask, should it be?

Which utility do you use under Linux? My cdrecord is limited
there as well …

Despite all the various DVD formats: my favorite is DVD-RAM!
I use a ‘LG’ drive that supports all formats, but DVD-RAM is the
most convenient, just like a removable harddisk.
(Okay, device and media are a little more expensive, but I
think it’s worth it).

Best regards,

Karsten.

You can get it in a download from http://developers.qnx.com/. QNX is also
in the latest cdrtools source drops.

I use “growisofs” under Linux. It needs “makeisofs”.
