Photon pwm question

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I haven’t been able to locate good
documentation on the subject.

My goal is to have virtually no menu options when the user invokes photon
(ph), either at the Launch bar or the menu/toolbar that is (out of the
box) on the left side of the screen. I experimented with launch_menu.xml
with limited success. The only item I retained was shutdown, so that is
still there. However, the applications item is still there (albeit in a
different location?) and it is still active. How does one turn off the
applicatons menu item?

From the documentation in my Momentics kit, I located the
$Home/.ph/wm/wm.menu, but it does not match what is on the screen now, so
what would changing that do?

The documentation mentions that if pwm is started with the -W switch (pwm
-W) it will disable the menu (what menu?). For the life of me, I can not
find where pwm is being started!!! I do a sin and it’s not there and
then invoke photon, do another sin and now it’s running?

Any hints, answers, or directions to additional (more, better)
documentation would be helpful and appreciated!

Hello

Which version of the OS are you using?

Are you talking about shelf? There are two files you may want to look
at, launch_menu.log, and launch_menu.xml.

From the documentation in my Momentics kit, I located the
$Home/.ph/wm/wm.menu, but it does not match what is on the screen now, so

When you right-click on your backdrop, then menu that appears is
controlled by this file.

The documentation mentions that if pwm is started with the -W switch (pwm
-W) it will disable the menu (what menu?). For the life of me, I can not

Pwm is started in the ph script. Rather than modify that script, before
you invoke Photon, export the environment variable PHWMOPTS="-W". This
will disable the workspace menu.

If you right-click on the shelf application, you can edit the plugins
that are available using setup. You could remove the launch menu
altogether from shelf.

Any hints, answers, or directions to additional (more, better)
documentation would be helpful and appreciated!

Sorry, that would be important…

Currently 6.2.1, soon 6.3…

Thanks!

And what about the rest that I posted? Did that help at all?

Sorry Rodney, I didn’t read any further than your question. I wish I
would have!

The information you provided was exactly what I needed, I was able to do
what I was planning to!
