photon editor

When I edit a text file written in windows using the photon editor(ped), a
special character is displayed at the end of each line. How can i get rid of
this character?

Your help is appreciated.

OK, let me try again.

Does it really depend on whether the file was written in Windows?

Does it perhaps depend on the font?

Does it seem to depend on anything else?

It definitely does NOT depend on Windows/QNX kind of the file.
After installing 6.3.0 SP1, PtMultiText displays the LF (\x09)
character as it is presented in the font. If the font doesn’t
include graphic representation of this character, a rectangle
is displayed instead. That affects the “ped” editor as it surely
uses PtMultiText. It’s a bug in SP1, as in 6.3.0 without SP1
PtMultiText used to show text properly, without
LF character visualization.

Regards
Alexander

Sorry for misprint. The LF character is \0x0a, not \0x09.
And one notice about DOS/Windows files: the CR characters
(\0x0d) aren’t displayed in PtMultiText even if the file
includes them.

Alexander

This is a bug. The ‘\n’ characters show up with terminal fonts. It is

already fixed.

Is there a patch available?
