Warning: CVS Checkout is dangerous

A warning:

When using the inbuilt CVS perspective in PE IDE, if you select a current
directory under which to check out - instead of a new subdirectory - the IDE
will happily download the module into that directory and completely wipe the
current contents of that directory.

It does not use the recycle bin.

I aimed it at My Documents. I am still crying.

I am very upset at this seemingly ridiculous aspect of the program.

(BTW, I am a software engineer, so I don’t make backups)

Robert.

This is a reported, (and apparently fixed in their code somewhere)
Eclipse bug.

It is bug #23868 at www.eclipse.org, summary:
[CVS UI]“Checkout As…” overwrites local file system without prompting.

And, yes, that is pretty ugly.

That sucks. My recommendation: smash something; that always makes me feel better…

Thank you. Yes - it usually works for me, but I have a tendency of choosing
expensive and innocent equipment.
